The high school’s book club meets on the 3rd Thursday of every month for a book discussion. At that time they receive the book for next month and select the read for the following month. Everyone who attends has input into our selections. Our meetings include about an hour of lively discussion.  Currently, we have twenty-two active members. Through the generous support of the HPTA we are able to purchase multiple copies of each selection for the club members to read. When we read a book that has been adapted to film, we try and set up a date to watch it as a group. Then we can compare/contrast the book and the movie. To defray the cost of additional books, the club ran a book sale during lunch in October and will be doing another one in February. In order to raise funds for a field trip to the Boston Public Library and the Athenaeum, the book club members hosted a Harry Potter movie night in January, will host a Lord of the Rings movie night in February and a local author night in March. David Yoo will be our guest speaker in March.
